:: Frigging portal to the Canyon of the Magi disappeared!!

Hello,

I'm playing Diablo 2 single player. I've read a few different posts about problems with characters running backwards and I believe I read somewhere about someone having trouble with portals disappearing. Well, now I'm one of them. I fought my frigging way through the Arcane Sanctuary, killed the Summoner, read the Journal, and the portal to the Canyon of the Magi opened. All fine and good. Company arrived, so I saved the game right there without going through the portal. So, today I fight my way back to where the portal is...or maybe I should say WAS!!! It's FREAKING GONE! Aaaaaannnd I even fought all the way through the Arcane Sanctuary again, killed the Summoner again, and read the Journal AGAIN. NO FREAKING PORTAL!!! So, this long winded question is basically this... What the hell do I do? Has anyone experienced this problem or know a solution? I'd rather not have to face the possibility that I'm just going to have to start over from the very beginning of the game.

Any help will be apprecited.

I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
